Children Singing Silent Night  - Free Christian Clip Art Image

Picture of Children singing Christmas carols, specifically Silent Night.

Nothing makes the holiday season brighter than the traditional Christian music that celebrates the story of Jesus' birth.  Songs that tell of Bethlehem and the manger scene. of shepherds guarding their flocks by night, and of the infant Jesus help adults as well as children to recall the reason for the season.  Christian celebrate Jesus Christ in every season.  And Christmas is the best time of all to express God's love every way we can to a world in great need of a reason to hope.

Darkness marks this time of the year in the northern hemisphere, as nights become longer than daylight.  Cold temperatures come, and so do the blues, as people's bodies and minds respond to the lack of sunlight.  Often, families experience the most difficult financial struggles in the winter season.  And children long for acceptance in both family and community.

Jesus Christ is the one true light that is in this world.  The church itself may fail to be the light and help that it should be, as believers get tangled up in the affairs of daily living, and the struggle to make ends meet.  But God never drifts away from us.  The Lord Jesus is always near to every human soul that calls upon Him.  He never turns anyone away.  He never pushes us back out into the cold.

God's love and great power is never more wonderfully told than in the message of Jesus Christ and His entrance into this world to bring everlasting life and perfect light.  Jesus came into the world to give us all that Satan conned us out of in the very beginning.  And Jesus will not stop until all the darkness is forever gone.  He has already conquered the powers of evil when He willingly died on the cross for our sins.  He defeated death and the grave when He took up His body again and walked out of the tomb — not as the walking dead, but as the King of eternal Glory.

Whoever knows Jesus Christ has life.  Whoever does not yet know Him is still in darkness, and that darkness is filled with despair and many sorrows.  The sorrows do not come from the circumstances of life, although life can truly be horrific in its difficulties.  The dark longing of human hearts is caused by their separation from the living God.  Jesus heals the broken bond.  Jesus makes us complete in God.  He gives us eternal life, and the very Spirit of God comes to live within us.

I love Christmas because I love to sing and talk of how God's love shattered the rule of darkness in this world.  We now have a firm hope in Christ that all the remaining promises of God will also be fulfilled in Christ.  All the powers of darkness will eventually be removed forever to a place prepared just for them.  And all the people who trust in the Lord will have a new heavens and a new earth, with Christ as our everlasting King.  He is the eternal Son of God who holds all things in His hand.  And He holds my life, your life, and the lives of all those we pray for and care for in His mighty power.
