As a church building is a symbol of the church itself (the real
church being the people and not the building), so a house is
often used as a symbol for the home. We all know that the
house is not the home. The real home is the people that
make up a family.
Of course, a single person still
needs a home. And while some lone individuals may tell you
they are perfectly happy to live alone, no one is truly happy
living alone. This does not mean that a single is always
unhappy in their home. If they know the Lord, they are not
alone.
The Lord Jesus says something
extraordinary in John's Gospel. Scripture says, "Jesus
answered and said to him, 'If anyone loves Me, he will keep My
word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and
make Our home with him.'" (John 14:23, NKJV)
