Christians Believe What God Says
I am always surprised by Christian
who allow themselves to be moved by the objections of
unbelievers to Bible-based faith. Some even allow it to drive
them away from faith in Christ altogether. I know that
Jesus said this would happen (see His illustration of a sower in
the Gospel of Luke 8:5-15), but it still takes me by surprise.
I expect believers to know that the world hates God's truth, and
to expect unbelievers to reject all things genuinely spiritual
(read Paul's comments on this in 2 Corinthians 1 and 2).
Genuine Christian believers will
always stand out in a world of darkness because we DO believe
God. The whole world is rushing toward eternal ruin
precisely because they refuse to hear God, trust God or follow
God's counsel. The world is lost in darkness because the
people hate the light (see John 3:11-21). Whoever rejects the
true God will always hate what God says, what God does, and what
God offers. They will prefer their own darkness and
foolishness to the wisdom, truth and Presence of God.
True Christian believers, on the
other hand, follow after Jesus Christ because He is the perfect
and eternal light of God. We accept the testimony of God
in Scripture because we recognize the message of God throughout
the centuries (since God's Spirit inspired all of the Bible),
and we see the value of that message — all the way back to the
most ancient Scriptures. We embrace the Holy Bible, not
because we think a book will somehow save us, but because we
know Jesus Christ (who does truly save us) and we have come to
recognize that the Bible does tell us the truth about Jesus,
about God the Father, and about God the Holy Spirit. God
bears testimony to His Word and His Word in Scripture offers us
a faithful record of what God has said. We know this by
the Holy Spirit that lives inside every believer.

publications for church, Sunday School, Bible Study or personal witness and other Christian
activities. There is no charge for this use, so long as
the copyright/credit info remains visible in the image. An
excellent graphic for many Christian uses, including greeting
cards, as invitations, bulletin board notices for plays, skits,
retreats, parties and other activities.
