There is a Christian
song* that says, "Jesus is
the answer for the world today." People who do not know
the Lord Jesus find it difficult to understand how Christians
can claim that Jesus solves all problems. The fact
remains, nevertheless, that He does.
Jesus is the link that is missing in
human lives, the link that brings them into a right relationship
with God. God loves all people, but we do not all love
God, and we do not all love or accept His way of doing things.
God offers us truth that will save us from the bitter
consequences of wrong choices. God wants our hearts to be
whole, to be pure, to be right. When we reject God's
truth, we open our lives, and the lives of people all around us,
to unhappiness, pain and sorrows.
We cannot bridge the gap between our
wrong choices and the goodness of God on our own. We know,
at some inner, higher level, that God is right. And many
of us want to make the step from where we are to where God is.
We want to get right with God, to find a way to do the things He
teaches us to do. But in ourselves, there is no power to
make that step. It would be a little like someone trying
to step across the widest point of the Grand Canyon. It
simply can't be done.
Jesus makes the leap possible.
Jesus is God reaching across the infinite gap between His
perfect goodness and our failures. In Jesus, God reaches
down and lifts us up and holds us close to His heart — forever.
Jesus is the answer to all the spiritual and moral failures in
human beings.
If a human being is truly healed
spiritually, then his choices begin to change. Instead of
living for himself, and for his own interests, each person who
knows Jesus begins to truly serve the good of others. When
there is no more fraud, no more shortcuts taken to make life
easier, then the world's imbalances in prosperity and peace
begin to level out. If everyone on earth knew and served
the Lord, with Jesus Christ inside by God's Spirit, then the
whole world would freely share all that's here, and no one would
ever do without again. No one would be billed for services
not rendered, no one would sell things that they know don't
work, no one would declare war on other people, no one would get
fat while their neighbors starve, and so on. The whole
world would be fixed, healed, repaired, and brought into perfect
peace.
You see? Jesus really is the
answer that the world needs today.
