Jesus is Alive!
The simple fact of the death of Jesus would not, in itself,
change
the world. If that is all that had happened some two
thousand years ago, then the world would likely
have forgotten all about the Lord Jesus and His message. Yes, He had
been a good-hearted person, a compassionate man. But as C.S. Lewis, Karl Barth and others have pointed out, without the
raising of Jesus Christ from the dead, things would have been
pretty normal. Good and wise people die every day.
No one gets out alive. Jesus' death would have been
nothing more, so far as anyone knew, than another tragedy.
And this world is not lacking in promising lives that end in
tragic circumstances.
What makes us all stand up and notice Jesus, right from the
start is His resurrection for the dead. The prophets had
foretold His death and suffering for sin. They had talked
about His wonderful teachings and other signs. But what no
one had understood is that Messiah would also rise from the
dead. And not just someday, whenever all people are called
up from the graves. Jesus, the Messiah and Christ of God,
died on the cross for the sins of the whole world. And
three days later, He rose up from the dead. Jesus
conquered death. Jesus overcame the powers of darkness
with His death on the cross, and He overcame death with His
resurrection from the dead.
The blood of Jesus pays for every human sin. That is
history. His resurrection proves that He is the Way, the
Truth, and the Life. He is alive. He can save you
right now. He is not some good feeling that people get
when they talk about God's love. Jesus Christ is the Man
who was God, the Christ who overcame all sin, all darkness, all
death. He can and will give eternal life to all who trust
in Him.
Have you sinned? Well, so have we all. Have you
given up on God? You are not alone in such despair.
But God has not given up on you. Jesus will save you this
very day, this very moment. Call out to Him and accept His
gift of eternal life. Let God have His way in your life.
Jesus is alive to save and to lead you from this day on,
forever. Thank God for that!
