Original Christian illustration by Jim Sutton: Image of a
raving idiot (represented by the image of Hitler nazism) bashing
Bible-believing Christians, and blaming them (us) for all the
unhappiness experienced by unrepentant sinners in the world.
Just as Hitler, and a great many people throughout Europe,
wrongly blamed the Jewish people for many of the unhappy
circumstances of life, so also the news (and much of the
entertainment) media today seems determined to blame
Bible-believing Christians for the unhappiness experienced by
those who try to defy God in their ideas and lifestyle.
The idea being presented is that we who believe, preach and
teach the Bible as God's truth are the cause of all the hate,
guilt and self-loathing or a society sick with sin. News
reporters and interviewers, comedians, movies, novelists, and so
on, love to target and discredit the Christian message any way
they can.
And, unfortunately, when professing Christians play the
hypocrite, engaging in sexually, criminally or otherwise
scandalous activity, that only adds fuel to the fire, and
credibility to the world's argument that all Bible-believers are
liars, cheats and thieves.
But faith in God is not the problem. Taking the Bible
literally, as God's written Word is not the problem. The
Bible message does not bring guilt into the world or into the
life of a sinner. Sin always brings its own rewards,
ultimately ending in death and in eternal darkness. God's
message of forgiveness, life and peace in the Holy Bible offers
every sinner a way out of the darkness, the degradation and
eternal damnation.
All people start out as sinners in this world. We are
born, even as little babies, under the curse of sin. And
we all actively participate in sin as we grow up in a world bent
on doing things any way but God's way. Even religion
itself is tainted with greed, hypocrisy and deceit. In
fact, the Bible says that all have sinned, all have fallen short
of God's glory.
Only faith in Jesus Christ, and an honest surrendering to God's
will, can save any of us from our own fallen nature, our habits
and addictions to evil. Jesus died on the cross, shedding
His blood for the remission of sin. All who trust in Him,
recognizing Him as the one and only Savior, will have eternal
life. To see and believe Jesus Christ for all that He is,
and for all that He has done for us, is to turn to God and away
from the ideas and attitudes of this dark world. The Lord
calls for us to repent and to believe the good news of God's
love, forgiveness for us in Jesus Christ.
The Bible says:
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved. He that
believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is
condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of
the only begotten Son of God. And this is the
condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved
darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
(Gospel of John, chapter 3, verses 17 thru 19)
If you have been running from God, rejecting every warning He
places in your path, stop right now and turn around. Pray
to the Lord and admit your sinful ways, confessing your need of
Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord. Call on the Lord and
He will save you. He will give you a new heart and a new
mind. You will begin to have a hunger and a thirst for His
truth. In the Holy Bible you will find that truth that
saves us, strengthens us, and the light that shows us the way to
live.
