Original Christian artwork: Patriotic image
showing a flag-waving citizen, the United States flag and
the words, Proud to be American - United States.
If I were called upon to make a list of all the things wrong
with our society, with our government and with our nation as a
whole, I might be busy for a long time. It would be a long
list. I think it was probably like that in the very
beginning, when we were still a handful of colonies that wanted
independence. It is impossible for people to make anything
perfect. That's a fact of life and human existence.
If I were asked which country, of all the nations in the world,
I might prefer over our own United States of America, I would
not hesitate for one moment. I prefer America, and this
United States over any other place. There are lots of
wonderful places in the world I would love to visit. I'd
love to see the whole world. But I only want to live here
in the USA, and I believe with all my heart that there is no
better place on this planet.
We have many weaknesses. We have our share of questionable
politicians. We have ideas that are just plain nuts.
And we have lots of room for improvement in every area of life.
We are certainly not a godly nation, a holy nation, a righteous
nation. But this nation is not only a human endeavor.
God granted us nationhood. God has permitted us to survive
many terrible tests in the past. I believe He will
continue to help us solve even the most insurmountable problems.
Not because we are better than other nations (we are not).
And not because there is something special or good or "worth
saving" about us. But because God is good and He does not
give good gifts only to take them away again. We were no
more deserving of God's kindness when this nation was born than
we are today.
There is a lot of work to do. A lot of praying to do.
A lot of right thinking to do. Changes need to be made.
Attitudes need to be turned around. Revival, repentance,
confession of sin and new spiritual life is needed in the whole
land. With God's help, these things will be accomplished.
But in good days and in bad times, this land is a great land.
It is worth fighting for, working for, and preserving. I
thank God for America. I thank God that I am an American.
I love this land and its people. I look forward to better
days, happier times for this great nation. May God bless
America with wisdom, courage and the honesty of a genuine faith
in Him. May we turn away from our sins and turn our eyes
to Jesus Christ. Amen.
