Original Christian graphic for GospelGifs by Jim Sutton: The
Ichthus Christian symbol was used in the first centuries after
Christ's death, when Christians were persecuted by religious and
political opponents. Christians suffered imprisonment, torture
and horrifying death. The Ichthus (word for fish in Greek) was
significant because the Greek letters in the word represented
the initials for Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior. It was used as
a marker to let believers know where meetings were held and
where to find help. Today, it still stands as a meaningful
expression of the Christian faith. Jim Sutton
