God's Word is truth. No doubt about
that for anyone who has ever put God to the test. The Lord
of the universe simply does not lie. But the Word of God
is more than a true statement. It is also a revealer of
both truth and error. The Word of God uncovers lies in us,
and in the people we listen to.
Scripture has a lot to say about God's Word.
For anyone having difficulty discerning between truth and error,
a verse-by-verse study through the Scriptures to examine what
God says about His Word, is both revealing and life-changing.
The power of God to save a human soul, for
example, is in the message of the Gospel. When we hear or
read the true gospel of Jesus Christ (as it is provided in Holy
Scripture), we are saved, transformed, rescued — translated from
the domain of darkness into the kingdom of God's own dear Son —
when we believe what God is saying. The power of God is
always in the message that He gives to us from heaven. The
power of God is in His Word.
Jesus teaches us by example to use the
written Word of God when we are confronted and tempted with
evil. Now the Lord Jesus, had He chosen to do so, could
have merely spit on the devil and dissolved him forever.
But He did the things He did on earth in order to teach us how
to live, to fight, and to succeed in this world. God has
given us many awesome tools and weapons to use in our struggles
against darkness. No instrument of spiritual warfare is
more awesome or powerful than the Word of God.
